What is the fastest electric vehicle in the world?

The answer essentially depends on when the question is being asked. At the time of writing (June 2022), the following 4 cars are almost neck in neck in being the fastest among electric cars.

1. Rimac Nevera: The all-electric super boasts 1,914 horsepower (HP) and 1,740 lb-ft (2,360 Nm) with four permanent magnet motors. All told, the new vehicle weighs 4,740 lbs (2,150 kg). According to Rimac, the Nevera can go from zero-to-60 mph in only 1.85 seconds, and on burst more, it argues to boost up to 258 mph (412 km/h). In their testing, it elapsed a quarter-mile in only 8.6 seconds while sprinting from zero to 186 mph (300km/h) in just 9.3 seconds.

2. Tesla Model S Plaid: Among regular EV sedans (unlike sports-based ones like the Nevera), Tesla’s Model S Plaid is the fastest with a top speed of 200 mph (320 kph). It boasts 1,020 horsepower and can accelerate from zero to 60 mph (0-100 kph) in 1.99 seconds and covers a quarter of a mile in less than ten seconds.

3. Jaguar I-Pace: This is the British response to the Model S Plaid. It has a twin electric motor to deliver a power output equivalent to 400PS and can hit zero to 62 mph in 4 seconds and can reach a top speed of 124 mph (199 kph). Notably, it is a 4-wheel drive car. This achieves 395bhp and 513lb-ft of torque, and a 124mph top speed.

4. Lucid Air Dream Performance: Another EV sedan marvel, the Lucid Dream Air packs 1,080 horsepower and a zero to 60 mph time in just 2.5 seconds. After the first 60 mph, a quarter-mile takes an astonishing 9.9 seconds according to testing. The max speed is 168 mph (270 kph).

At present, these four stand on top of the electric cars list.
