Fanttik X8 APEX Not Charging Fix

X8 APEX won't charge or icon never fills? 90% of cases are low-current wall bricks. The full diagnostic walkthrough plus warranty path.

If your Fanttik X8 APEX plugs in but never shows a full battery icon — or worse, accepts the cable yet refuses to power on — the fix is usually about the wall brick, not the inflator. The 28.8 Wh battery needs at least an 18W USB-C input to negotiate a full charge cycle, and a weak laptop hub or low-current car USB port will trickle for hours without ever topping the cell.

Symptom Quick Check

  • Charge indicator stays red, never turns green — input voltage too low, or the cable is data-only.
  • Indicator turns green but battery icon never fills — cable is delivering trickle current; the X8 APEX detects power but never reaches full state of charge.
  • Indicator does not light at all when cable is plugged — bad cable, bad port on the unit, or fully deep-discharged battery.
  • Indicator flashes alternating red and green — protection circuit fault. Disconnect and let the unit rest 30 minutes before re-attempting.

Most Common Cause

The X8 APEX battery is 28.8 Wh — twice the size of the X9 Pro cell. A standard 5W phone charger or a 1A USB-A port in a laptop will technically supply current but cannot complete a charge cycle in any practical time. The unit detects the input as "plugged in" and shows the green indicator, but the actual current is below the cell's maintenance draw. Result: the user sees a "charging" light all night, and the battery icon never gets above one or two bars.

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Use a USB-C wall brick rated at 18W or higher. A modern phone or laptop USB-C charger meets this spec; older USB-A bricks usually do not.
  2. Use a USB-C to USB-C cable that supports power delivery. A USB-A to USB-C cable or a data-only cable will not negotiate the PD profile.
  3. Plug the brick into a wall outlet, not into a USB hub or computer port. Computer ports throttle current to USB 2.0 limits.
  4. Wait for the indicator to turn red, then green within 30 seconds. A delay longer than 30 seconds suggests a deep-discharge state — leave the unit plugged in for a full 4 hours before assuming a hardware issue.
  5. Verify the battery icon climbs every 30 minutes. Three full bars in 2 to 2.5 hours from empty is correct behavior.
  6. If after 4 hours the battery icon has not moved past one bar, try a known-good cable and a different wall brick. Cable failure is the second most common cause behind low-current bricks.
  7. If the indicator never lights at all on a known-good cable plus 18W brick, the USB-C port on the unit may be damaged — contact warranty.

When to Contact Support / Warranty

Open a ticket after all of the following have been verified:

  • Tried an 18W or stronger USB-C PD brick.
  • Tried at least two different USB-C cables, each known to charge a phone successfully.
  • Left the unit plugged in for 4 hours and observed no LED activity.
  • Verified the wall outlet works with another device.

Contact Fanttik support with the brick wattage, cable type, and observation timeline. Battery warranty is honored within the published period.

FAQ

Q: Can I charge the X8 APEX from my car USB port?
A: Only as a trickle. Most car USB-A ports are 1A or 2.1A and will not complete a full cycle. Use a wall brick for primary charging.

Q: How long should a full charge take from empty?
A: 2 to 2.5 hours on an 18W USB-C PD brick.

Q: My phone charger says 20W — is that enough for the X8 APEX?
A: Yes. Any modern 18W or higher PD brick is sufficient.

Q: Should I unplug the X8 APEX once it reaches 100 percent?
A: Not strictly necessary — the protection circuit prevents overcharge — but disconnecting at 100 percent extends long-term cell health.
